COOKON (GOG) OF THE GAGORN
(Player - Daniel Egan)
Goals and Ambitions
Cookon hopes to learn as much as he can about humanoid culture and technology and return home to his tribe. He was once confronted by an ogre magi who told Cookon he was destined to become an ogre king if he could find three ogre artifacts (a giant sword, a golden laurel reef and another unknown item).
The artifacts were located in a lost ogre citadel and protected by traps and magic. The traps can be passed if Cookon can find an old ogre text. The book is currently in the hands of a merchant called Diogenies. Cookon must also take care to avoid his younger brothers who also are looking for the artifacts.
Roleplaying notes
Cookon may be thought of as a simple-minded brute to most who meet him, but he is capable of being gentle as a lamb. He can come up with some...errr...interesting plans or ideas. He is also quite friendly.
His first reaction upon meeting someone new is to thrust out a huge hand and introduce himself, attempting a big, toothy smile (not a good thing considering all those sharp, broken teeth).
He has an undying facination for humans and other smaller races, and is also interested in their advanced technology and culture (although he barely understands it). He is completely oblivious to political intrigue, dispite that he and his friends are constantly assailed by wars, gods, secret societies, prophecies and evil plots.
Cookon has a great fear of diseased people due to his mother, who he was very close to, dying from a horrible wasting disease. Undead also terrify him. (He has to make a saving throw vs petrification to resist running away for 1D6 rounds. He will run even if his friends are in dire trouble!) Cookon is also scared if confronted by the holy symbol of Feretrious (Head God).
Cookon will collect mementoes of "good fights" he has been in. He keeps the skulls of minor opponents he had trouble beating, and the weapons and armour from POWERFUL opponents.
Cookon also has an unusual quirk - he tends to take things either the wrong way or too literally. An order to "go get him, now!" may be disastrous, as Cookon will take the quickest route (usually through a wall), grab the victim (probably by the feet) and drag them kicking and screaming to the person giving the order. He also has difficulty understanding similar sounding words or phases. In one situation, he was almost killed when he had a misunderstanding with a Zeedan warrior who thought Cookon was insulting him about his name and ran the ogre through with a spear.
