Background History | |
| Origin: | Chilum was born and raised in Kaer Argari, a kaer that is about a day's journey northeast of Travar. The kaer had been hidden deep within the foothills of the Thunder Mountains and it successfully survived the Scourge. A chance and timely landslide revealed its doorway to the Storm Wolves as they were passing by. (See Farewell Travar.)
Chilum, although small for his age as a child, was always rough in his play and loved to excel at any athletic competition. The ork Warrior Ho'Korga noticed his potential at being an Adept, and, when the boy was old enough, he offered to train him. Chilum's parents were delighted that their son was to follow such a noble calling. Chilum was deeply honoured and took his training seriously. Ho'Korga's method of training was very demanding - both physically and mentally - and his discipline was immediate and harsh, although always fair. The first time Chilum complained, Ho'Korga's response was: "No Horror's going to treat you nice, boy. You've got to be tough and you've got to be ready!" Chilum had to agree. He stuck to his training and his respect for the old ork Warrior deepened as he learned more and more about the Discipline. Some time later, Chilum was devastated when Ho'Korga was badly injured in an earthquake-induced rockfall during a patrol in the deepest parts of the kaer. The tough old ork survived, but it was without the use of his legs. He was still able to continue Chilum's training, but it was often difficult. Ho'Korga felt that he had failed as a teacher, and in his frustration, he became more and more demanding of Chilum's performance. Chilum, although not pleased by the constant haranguing and beatings, could see Ho'Korga's frustration at being crippled and always did his best to please his mentor.

| Reason for adventuring: | Chilum was one of a growing group of Namegivers who had become dissatisfied with life within the kaer. They were of the belief that the Scourge had ended, and that it was time for life to begin anew outside. The group had petitioned the elders of the kaer, and were surprised to find that they were of a like mind! The small number of Adepts within the kaer, after months of careful planning and intense training, were almost ready to undertake a scouting mission outside when Gem's Knocking and Pictograph's were noticed. Having learned that the Scourge was, indeed, over and that there was a whole world to explore, Chilum, with Ho'Korga's blessings, jumped at the chance to join the Storm Wolves in their travels. |
