Campaign Details

The campaign started in mid 1995, with infrequent sessions at first, settling to regular fortnightly games. Usually these games were on Friday nights, however occasionally there were switches to Saturday or Sunday for an all day gaming session. After sporadic sessions throughout 1998 and 1999, the campaign moved to longer sessions on the 3rd Sunday of each month. It concluded mid 2000.

If you read through the journal, you will probably notice that the characters advance more quickly than perhaps they should. This was deliberate. The legend point awards for roleplaying and heroics were inflated, however the awards for acquiring treasure and defeating opponents usually remained normal.

For those characters within the group at a high level (6+), the rate of advancement was slowed. The new or low level characters still received the inflated awards.

Outstanding Plot Lines

  • Find the man eating canivorous plants for study (Gem).
  • Find out what's happened to Cohi's child.
  • Find more details on various magic items:
  • Sarena's sword (from Terror in the Skies)

House Rules

Over the course of our gaming, we adopted a number of house rules which promote the high fantasy heroic style of this campaign. These include:
  • On a extraordinary success on an attack test, the minimum damage done is equal to the step number of the damage test. For example, if there is an extraordinary success on an attack test and the step for damage is 15, then if the roll is less than 15, the damage becomes 15. Totals above the step number are treated as normal.

  • It is possible to buy increases to Physical Defense, Spell Defense and Social Defense. These can be bought in a similar manner to attribute increases and cost the same in legend points. This is a maximum of +5 to each defense.

  • Character bonuses for Karma use on attributes apply to any test using the attribute. For example, Swordmasters receive Karma on Dexterity tests at Fourth Circle. Therefore, the Swordmaster can use Karma on Initiative Tests, Climbing Tests, etc. If Karma can already be used on the test (e.g. a Discipline talent use), then this attribute bonus can NOT be used.

  • Bonuses from Group Threads add to steps not ranks, unless step values are irrelevant, e.g. Durability, Tiger Spring.

  • When a character is knocked down, the character has the option of taking a -6 penalty for the whole round in order to get up and do an action in that round.
